Taglit-Birthright Israel requires that all trip participants and staff be covered with traveler’s health insurance that covers you while you are in Israel. As part of your application you will be required to submit the name and contact information of your travel insurance company and your policy number. If you do not have traveler’s health insurance coverage (that covers pre-existing conditions, and medical emergencies and incidents overseas) please be sure to purchase a plan as soon as you are confirmed on a trip or you will not be allowed to travel. You can purchase an inexpensive plan by clicking on the CTAS Travel Insurance banner below (be sure to purchase this insurance within 15 days of your MAYANOT confirmation which will ensure that pre-existing conditions are covered).
If you have health insurance that covers you overseas it is essential that you also purchase travel insurance as soon as you are confirmed on a trip. This will ensure sure that any medical expenses, flight cancellation/interruption, baggage loss/damage, and much more will be covered. Your current health/homeowners/credit card insurance often does not cover the many potential issues that can occur on a trip. Be sure to protect yourself as these are issues that occur often. It is a small investment for big savings.
Mayanot recommends CTAS Travel Insurance, underwritten by Harel – Israel’s largest travel insurance provider, for good reason. CTAS Travel Insurance has specialized in student travel coverage for over 20 years. They offer good rates for participants on Israel programs including Birthright, and efficient and personal attention with a 24-hour help-line center.
